Life In December
Things have got really hectic lately. I must finish 2 important projects before I head for my Christmas vacation in Brisbane, Australia. I am quite excited about it. More about it in coming posts.
This post is just random things about my life in December here. December started with lot of fun. In the first week two of my best friends Souvik and Sachin celebrated their birthdays. Wish could have been there with you guys :( Also in the same week another year in my life went by. This is the second time I spent my birthday in Taiwan. First one was in 2005, just day after first time I set foot on this Island and the second one this month, when I feel quite settled and used to Taiwan life.
Its getting really cold here. the other day I woke up to this view from my 11th floor apartment.
Could barely see anything several feet apart.
The other day this monster greeted me at my office doorsteps.
Didn’t I tell you its getting really cold here.
This month has been really indifferent so far. The other night while going back to my apartment I saw this. It was little surprising to see Ganesha, the Elephant God as known popularly, posted at the entrance of strange looking building entrance. Folks there told me it was a Thai Massage Center. Couldn’t understand the logic behind using Ganesha pictures at a massage center though.
Can’t wait to get over with work in this week and then I’m off to a Christmas vacation in Australia. BTW it was just perfect that I had to travel and MJ published his “Diary of Professional Traveler” series articles. I highly recommend to read these fabulous tips and insights about International Travel. Great stuff from MJ.
UPDATE: I had to put off my travel plans for now as some “showstopper” issues have surfaced out of no where.

holy cow, your photos make it look so cold! your apartment is so high that you’re in the clouds! btw, that massage place probably doesn’t know who Ganesha is but they think the poster looks cool so there you have it. wouldn’t be the first time. thanks for the mention too Ashish. take care on your trip!
lol … yeah it does appear to be lot more cooler in my photos MJ … abt the massage place..had it been in hsinchu it would have certainly attracted many indians ;)
it my pleasure to direct some traffic to your articles MJ (if there is any in the first place lol) moment i read your first article i knew it was going to be fabulous series and very helpful for travellers like me who pack their stuff at the 11th hour without any planning … insights like your always helps … btw i would love to see “first time in taiwan” series on your blog
Yeah, it does look cold. It’s been cold here in Changhua, but not that cold.
I guess they’ve put Ganesha there because of the elephant head, as elephants are closely associated with Thailand.
Thanks Craig. Yes I do think that must be the reason now :)
BTW I had to cancel my trip to Australia as major issues had crept through the project. So my boss had asked me to postpone it for now. So instead I’m heading Changhua this weekend. By any chance if you have free time may be we can meet up. Do let me know.
Last but not least, I like the new look of your site Craig. It’s wonderful.
Bummer about having to cancel the trip to Aust. I was just going to ask whether you were going to get to any of the Aust/India tests. But I guess not. I’ll never forget being at the SCG when Tendulkar hit 150 during Shane Warne’s first test.
I’m actually heading down to Kaohsiung later this morning, so won’t be in Changhua this weekend. I’ll probably be up your way in 2 weeks – the Hsinchu city God birthday is on the 5th or 6th of January, so I was going to head up to Hsinchu to get some photos of it.
yeah … disappointing :( anyways i hope there will be many more chances to go there ;-)
well you saw that hundred :-O wow … You are one lucky guy, ain’t you?
I just came back from Changhua btw. I read your comment before replying to it today. I’m coming back Changhua next weekend again. If you still can’t make it then don’t worry I will be there again soon :) I love Changhua. Its very modest town and people are very wonderful there. C u soon.
I’ll be away again next weekend (28th-1st) because I’ll be in Taipei. I haven’t actually spent a weekend in Changhua for about 6 weeks – been too busy traveling to photoshoots.
Well never mind Craig. Good luck with your phtoshoots. I sense some great shots coming soon on your site. I will be eagarly watching :)
