About the tumbler

Ashish

Hi there. I am Ashish. I am a 27 year old male, married to a beautiful Taiwanese girl and proud father of a most amazing daughter. Presently I live in Yangmei, Taoyuan county of Taiwan and work as a development manager in a new small start-up company. I have been working on Java and related technologies for past 6 years and I specialize in web application development.

I grew up in a small town of Jalgaon, up in north Maharashtra state of India which happens to be pretty close to the world famous Ajanta Caves. In my younger years I moved to Pune to take an engineering degree in Information technology at Sinhgad College.

In year 2005 I came to Taiwan on a small work assignment and absolutely loved this country. I took my time to adjust to Taiwan food and culture but then sheer beauty of this island nation and incredibly rich and diversity of food played its part. Not to forget the beautiful, friendly and incredibly courteous people of Taiwan. In the mean time I also fell in love with my wife. We got married last year and now make a beautiful family of three.

I record my Taiwan life here on this blog by written accounts of my weekend outings and photography in general.

  4. Thanks Meghna. I hope I can keep up with you expectations. I went over to your blog and I must say you make a hell of a great writer for 13 years of age. To tell you the truth at 13 I used to flunk in english tests :P Aaah well but those were the funniest times of my life.
You are an inspiration girl and on my reader now ;)
    Keep well and keep writing

  11. Thanks a lot Andrew :) I am glad you liked it and apologize as I am not as consistent as much I would like updating it.

  12. Randomly landed here in search for info on Taiwanese Cinema enjoyed reading the blog..Cheers.

  13. Hi Nitesh. Thank you so much buddy >:D< Thats one cool blog and website you have and for a good cause I might add. Me and friends would be very interested to know more about it. You just earned couple more Indian cinema ardent fans to follow cinephile. Do you have any thing going on in Pune?

  14. Hi ashin,

Thanks for the support…really aprpeciate that. We had a meeting in Pune this month but it was not very successful, as we hardly know anyone there. So if anyone would be interested in organising a film lovers meet and screening once a while there it would be great just to get whole India connected on that.

  15. Hey Ashish,

Your blog is very interesting. I do have a question for you though. I was born in Canada to Indian parents and currently reside in the US. I am well educated and english was my first language. Is it impossible to find a english teaching job in Taiwan for someone of Indian descent? Is it really that bad if you are not ‘Caucasian ‘?

  16. Raj, in the bigger cities it may be difficult, but smaller towns should be ok, assuming you have a Canadian passport.

  17. Hello Raj:

The same applies for mainland China. Depending on your experience, some larger schools many not care, but training centers in big cities will want “white” faces. In the provinces and smaller towns it’s a different story.

  18. Hi Ashish!

  20. Hi Ashish,

I’ve read some of your posts and enjoyed them very much. Tks!

I’m in a relationship with a Taiwanese girl and we’re planning to get married soon. I would like to verify with you the procedures to do so. I’m assuming that you’ve some expertise in this regard as you’re married to a local Taiwanese. Would appreicate if you can reply me.

    Tks in advance.

    • Hi Hari, Glad you enjoyed some of what I write here. I’m going to write a complete “how to” post on “Indian marrying a taiwanese” to save trouble for others in future as I personally had to struggle a lot to deal with the whole process. Hopefully by this weekend. If you can’t wait for that I can send you my contact number and we can talk about it.
I saw your website earlier this week as I found you linked to one of my blogposts. Looking forward to hear from you more especially your chinese learning experiences.
